Question Applying for a British Passport on the grounds of being born in Hong Kong before 1997 and that I've lived in the UK for 5 years

I'm 16, studying in UK right now. And I'm hoping to apply for a British Passport, however, my family is worried that if I do apply for the passport, I will have to give up my Hong Kong citizenship. And I'm trying to explain that that's not the case. Am I right?

As there is no such thing as Hong Kong citizenship, you are talking about Chinese citizenship, right? What passport do you currently hold? A BN(O)?

Being born in HK before 1997 does not grant you British passport automatically - only BNO.
