    Application of Permanent ID

    Hello friends,

If the job contract ends on the same day as completion of 7 yrs stay in Hong Kong, is there any issue when we apply for Permanent ID?
Do we need to be with job while VISA is in the process or will it be fine as long as we are with job when we apply and not with job while VISA is in process?

I am staying HK even after that, but I really want to take a rest by leaving the job after completion of 7 yrs!!!

    Please advise.

why not apply for PR, THEN take a rest.... keep working until you get your status approved, then quit.

Yes, I will definitely with job when apply, but after that do I need to be with job while Visa is in process? I just want to know if there is such regulations since I heard that some people really ends the contract after 7yrs of stay. Anyway since company also has 30 days notification rule, I think I would stay with job in the next 30days from application date, but Just want to know the regulations!

I think you will be fine, because you are not applying for a visa, you are applying and they re confirming the details on your application are correct. To be safe, i would take a walk by immigration tower at lunch and ask them. You might be able to apply before, but i am not sure about that.

When does your visa actually expire?

I have sort of the same situation. My visa is expiring 1 month short of the 7 years. I'm wondering if I can be cheap and submit the PR application early to save $160, also to save the hassle of going to the IMMD. I remember somewhere here someone posted that you can submit early

It's hard to define what 7 years is.

Just apply for an extension of visa before your current visa expires. HK ImmD will extend your visa for the purpose of ROA verification -- no job is required. So you can remain in HK without working. Feel free to remain or leave HK after you submit your application for ROA verrification.

If you are a Chinese national, you have one more option: leave HK on the last day of your current permit to remain, and come back into HK as a tourist or any other legal status and submit your application for ROA verification.

RP145: Notes for Guidance on Application for Verification of Eligibility for Permanent Identity Card says "If you are subject to a limit of stay in the HKSAR, you should apply for an extension of stay at the relevant Immigration Office before the expiry of your current limit of stay if your application for verification of eligibility for permanent identity card is not yet finalized."

Is it possible to apply for an extension on the basis that an application is pending? Anyone have done this before?
