Question British passport for baby born in HongKong?

My brother F has been living & working in England.
His Hong Kong girlfriend M gave birth to baby son in HK
    about 2 weeks ago.
    They have not yet married.
NOTE: My parents, brother F & I myself have obtained British citizenship 16 years ago.We were originally born in Hong Kong.

Please kindly advise the fastest/best way to arrange
right to live in UK for his girlfriend & son?

BTW my sister Y has a reversed issue.
Her boyfriend is British in England, she in Hong Kong.
Yet she did not obtained British citizenship.
She has a daughter born in HK with her ex-husband who is a HK citizen.
    Is it
faster / better to have him come to marry her in HK or
for her to apply fiancee visa to go marry him in UK?

Both my brother & sister are really scratching their heads.
Your experience sharing & advices would be much appreciated.

F's son will not gain british citizenship by decent ( my friend k is born in hk, wife in korea, but now live in uk, has a son born in HK), f's son will have to obtain a visa to live in UK (my friend mentioned it will cost around GBP1000)

does f's gf has bno or not?

Your brother, the father, has British Citizenship by descent? I don't think he can then pass it on to his baby. However, I did read somewhere that they were going to extend it to two generations so it might be worth checking that. He would need to get a settlement visa for his wife and baby, and yes the cost is around GBP1000 each. I am not sure where they get married will make any difference (or even if they are married).

The UK border control website includes all the information he would need, though note it is getting harder and harder to immigrate into the Uk. His wife/gf will need to do an english exam and show she will be able to find work in the UK before she would be issued a visa.

The baby is not entitled to a British passport via the father, though could apply for citizenship in the future if he lives in UK for long enough.

Simple, get brother and sister to marry each other!

In all seriousness though, I'm pretty sure only a British citizen by birth can pass on the citizenship to their children. I.e. my daughter is British by descent, born in hk, so she would not pass her citizenship to any children she may have, unless they're born in the UK.

Also my wife (hk) cannot simply move to the uk with me.. she'd have to apply for an expensive visa, an expensive visa renewal, take a stupid test, prove all sorts of financial things, etc. Etc. Plenty of hoops to jump through.

Meanwhile the whole of the EU gets a free pass. Not that I am making a political statement here

Don't have to show she will be able to get work, that question was never raised. Two million other questions but not that one.

It's bullshit really that bringing a spouse to your home country is such a rigmarole. I can understand them saying hey you should be together for a decent amount of time and so on, but pretty much if the dad is British and the kid is British then it should be a no-brainer that the mother can come with them.

Although I'm sure there are lots of people exploiting the system and so on which is why these restrictions are in place..

ah yes, you're right - it's just the sponsor who needs to prove their income.

Not true: I know for a fact that a person who got British Citizen by Naturalization, gave birth to a child in HK, and the child was issued full British Passport.
