i have an older hkid ROA from when i was 12 yrs old. was supposed to renew at age 18, but did not. i assume due to the fact i've been gone for more than 36 mo's (i'm a uk citizen/us citizen) i automatically lost ROA?
my parents were both born in hk- have the older style hkid's ROA....
i plan on bringing (to at least get RTL if not ROA)
my hkid card
all my passports
my birth certificate.
parents hkid cards
parents marriage certs (uk)
parents birth certs(hk)
...
the thing is- can i simply bring copies of my parents stuff? i would rather NOT take their original documents with me to hk...and then have to mail them back (and risk losing the docs).
or will the immig. office require me to bring their originals? in addition- for whwatever reason, would the immig. officials ever have a right to take my parents hkid cards from my hands/by force? not that there's anything illegal about my parents hkid cards other than my parents not being back to hk for the past 7 yrs (father cannot travel due to illness)
