Yes, but even so they have spent a year or so in HK as a tourist - I think immigration would question that. Shit, if they were Filipino they would be on the next plane out.

Indeed - including "what have you been doing with your time". And if the real answer is "working illegally as a language teacher" then even the anticipated Dependant Visa might be in doubt...

how did you say if they were Filipino they will be kicked-out or sent out of HK??

i am Filipino as well. and been here in HK since Feb. 12. and till now i'm still here. we just got married May 15. and that is the reason why they allow me to stay for so long. the approved notice of intended marriage is the only documents we are showing to the immigration, the date of marriage was written there as well. and they even gave us enough time for us the process my dependant visa.

my husband just accompany me for extension and just asked him if he's the one supporting my stay. well, of course he is, for he owns a company here.

There's a big difference between 3 months and a year.

But congratulations on the marriage anyway!

the immigration people are quite strict and fussy when it comes to passport holders of asian/africian people, not so fussy about westerners unless your passport is full of visa runs to macau/china.

but how can she go to shenzhen? she cannot apply for visa here in HK since it's not her country of residence nor she doesn't have HKID... and visa office at shenzhen border are ot issuing visas anymore unless have HKID.

better extend at the immigration tower in wanchai.. just show them proof that you'll get married on september. show them the approved notice of intended marriage, with the date of your wedding indicated.

but have you filed for notice of marriage? coz the notice is just valid for 3months. now is may and if you've already filed it should expire by august.

that's the best proof you can show to the immigration. that's what we do. since february 12, i've been here and just got married may15..

btw, prior to my arrival, im just allowed to stay for 14days. we just do visa run to shenzhen for 3times (that time china visa can be applied in HK even without HKID). and then after 3 visa runs, we filed for marriage application. after approval, we went to immigration tower and just showed them the approved notice of marriage with the date of marriage. my husband just accompanied me and he's the one who talked to the immigration. they also gave us enough time for the processing of dependant visa.

that's better and legal that way. don't try to do a visa run again, you may not be lucky the next time.
