It's part of the Canadian passport form, you have to list some of your employers and school in the last 2 years. And lying to the Government of Canada is an offence.

As for anoncanadian,

1. It's possible. But I'm not sure Ottawa is that advanced that they will check all that data and share it.
2. Not declaring income shouldn't have anything to do with getting a passport. There are legitimate reasons to not have income, such as being a non-resident.
3. Not really sure, basically you're asking #1 again.
4. You have to report all income that you make in any year that you were considered resident in Canada.

But if you've been away for so long, you might be non-resident anyway, despite that you think you are:
