It would be better for the visa application.

If you can't wait or her earning potential isn't going to be that high, can you look for a job that offers employment visa sponsorship?

Quick Richard1213, edit your above post before the Immigration bounty hunters see it, your basically saying your working in HK illegally without a proper visa

Grunt will be chasing you and knocking down your House door

If you are a Dutch citizen then you could live anywhere in the EU. If she has decent English, for example, then it might be a lot easier for her to get a visa to the UK than for you to get one to HK. (The UK is weird - wives of EU citizens can get visas much more readily than wives of UK citizens as I understand it)

Yes that is true, and if your wife cant speak Dutch, or has difficulty learning the language it's going to be a VERY hard slog.

hmm not an easy one this one...unless another EU location is adopted as a plan B.

    Hi Richard,

I'm British and my wife is a Hong Kong passport holder, (Chinese).

We came to Hong Kong, me on a tourist visa, and applied for the dependant visa while we were here.

My wife didn't have a job.

We showed immigration that we had $100000HKD in the bank.

    It was easy.
