Did you submit your latest tax papers, copies of your leases for the last 7 years, and other documents to prove that you have made HK your permanent residence?

Yes all the necessary documents...It has been 5 weeks now, so not long yet. But I just want to know average how long it takes!

There does seem to be a backlog with visas, but the PR section should be separate, right Geoexpaters?

Perhaps someone else here has done it recently and will be able to advise.

btw, you dont need a visa after you are permanent. so no such thing as a 'permanent visa'.

Why do Immd need to see leases etc to show you live here? They know everyone's dates of entry/exit from passing through immigration at shun tak/airport etc. Surely they can see from that if someone has spent long periods of time out of hk?

I guess it's more important if you spend a lot of time out of HK - for a couple of my 7 years I was out of HK over 200 nights in each year, so I needed evidence that I was actually living here.

With PR applications the onus is on you to prove that you meet the criteria, not on ImmD to disprove it.

Anyway what I wanted to know is if 5 weeks is normal...but seems it is within normal.
I have not been away from HK that long, max 3 weeks for summer vacations. Thanks!

Being physically in Hong Kong doesn't necessarily mean one is ordinarily residing in Hong Kong.
