    UK Settlement Visa

Has anyone gone through the settlement visa procedure online and at the consulate recently. Read it all up so seems simple enough for the wife but with HMG there is usually a twist somewhere so trying to get ahead of the curve.

Wife is PHKID, HK Passport Holder but Mainland born and has entered UK before. Mother of a ( soon to be ) British Passport Holder. Husband, war hero and general good egg.

Saying that and reading up on all the hoops you have to jump through now to get residency, makes the HKID look as hard to get as cutting out a cereal box coupon. HMG REALLY doesn't like foreigners unless your from the Gulf and race your super cars around Fulham that is.

Hullexile is your man. It took him a year and a huge amount of grief to get a settlement visa for his wife.

The commissioner of oaths at the Home Affairs Department was a breeze. Turned up ad hoc and the staff helped us fill in the forms. Stamped it up and the CoO signed off. Next door to the PO and speedpost to UK.

Hull has offered so advice as well.

Wife now has to take an English test and ( haven't told her yet ) get a TB shot. HMG REALLY don't like foreigners. As for the Singh solution, not in my DNA to do that. Got to suck up the 11k visa I'm afraid.
