    Job Seeking

Hi I recently lost my job in London as a Transport Manager I want to travel to Hong Kong to seek work as I have visited there lots of times and feel at home. Is there a lot of agencies I can visit to seek work or must I obtain a working visa first.

    Thanks

If you employ the search function here you will very quickly find out that there is no work visa in HK without job.

There are plenty of recruitment agencies, many of which will have familiar names, e.g. Michael Page. Hudson.

Job offer first with employer sponsoring an employment visa, unless you are a permanent resident (you mentioned "at home").

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to establish if it was worthwhile traveling out to HK to seek work as not having much luck on the net job searching.

    What are you looking for?

BTW, being here and available for interview is an advantage. An overseas resume doesn't always get far at an HR department or a recruitment agency, unless it's for a fairly high and/or very specialised position.

Why don't you say what kind of work you're looking for then people can say if it's worthwhile.
I'm not familiar with this "Transport Manager" job title. Did you work for the tube? Buses? Logistics? Cabs?

Obviously it's not worthwhile if you're looking for work where there's a smaller job market...

In short, being an expat is only an advantage if you have some skills or expertise that a local doesn't have, but you, as an expat, does.
