Flying from the US to Beijing on Home Return Permit

Hi, I have a question about the use of Home Return Permit.

I was born in HK, with a British passport and a HRP. I am now a permenant resident in the US, but not yet a citizen. I am planning to visit Beijing this summer. Would I be able to enter China using my HRP? Or will I need to get a visa on my British passport?

Please share your experience if you have done something similart, thanks!

Yes, you can use your HRP. If you use your passport, you will need a visa. If you apply for a visa, don't say that you have a HRP.

Thanks for your quick reply! If I use my HRP, should I tell them that I live in HK or the US? Should I tell them about my British passport?

Also, I am flying with Delta, do they recognize the HRP?

You can enter China with your HRP but if you can board the plane with it is another question. not all checkin officer know what a HRP is.

You must use HRTP to enter and leave PRC.

For Airport check in other pasports are suffice.

If it's a direct flight to PRC there usually is a China man around who knows HRTP stuff.

You don't need luck, it's a no brainer if your HRTP has not expired.
They know about your British passport but regard it as a travel document and don't recognize your British nationality. For Chinese authorities you are Chinese.

If you happen to go to Shenzhen register for e-channel, it makes life easier, also at Beijing airport next time
