    question on dependant visa

hey, i saw your post online and i decided to ask you for help.

did you do any measures to make sure you will get approved of a dependant visa?

my husband has a work visa in hong kong. but when he applied for his work visa in hk, he stated he was single. me and my husband are now married? can we still go about applying dependant visa for me without affecting his visa type with his company??

thank you so much. i'm currently now in hk as a visitor pass as i really miss him a lot, so i really congratulate you that you have gotten a visa and now you can find jobs in hk as well. =)

    regards,
    charlene

Yes - it should be no problem for you to apply for your Dependant Visa. The validity of your visa will be linked to the expiry date of his but it won't affect his existing visa in any way.

But you do need to be legally married. And you write as if you were married when he applied but for some reason he said he was single? That is a very strange thing to do and Immigration might pick up on it if the date on your marriage certificate was before he applied for the visa, so you should prepare a good explanation for that!

When the dependent visa is issued, it comes in a form of a "sticker" - my husband just sticks it in a blank page of his passport and yes - there is a 90 days time limit in which my husband has to make his entry into HK.

Once he arrives in HK he has 30 days to register for an identity card. (temporary)

As for my cat - she is a crf (chronic renal failure) kitty so my vet does not recommend any sedatives. I hear that some airlines will not allow your pet on the plane if it is sedated... but I am not sure is there a "degree" of sedativeness... Also check with the airline you are planning to fly with if there is a "pet embargo" period. I am flying Air Canada and they do enforce one (usually during the summer months due to temperature issue and high season period due to volume issue)

Oh, I think I must make a better time schedule for the visa if it has 90 days time limit..the very first thing we have to do is to have the documents of his financial status translated from Italian to English, I have no idea how long will it takes. I already asked my friend in Hk to ask for information at the consulate general of italy in HK.

My husband and I weren't married before I moved here and applied for my dependent visa so I am assuming that he said he was single as well when he got his visa. I don't think it is an issue but they will ask for the original copy of the marriage certificate. We got married here so it was easy to show the original. (They don't keep the original; they just stamp a copy validating that they saw the original.) Also, they wanted to know why I was applying while already in the country and they seemed satisified it was because we weren't married yet (you can't apply unless you are married). Also, they wanted proof that we knew each other for a while; pictures, leases, etc. Hope that helps.
