    Applying for Dependants visa

    Hello all,

DH has Permanent Resident status and he tells me it's ok to apply for a dependants visa AFTER we arrive in HK.

We (wife and kids) hold British passports so we can stay 180 days on that alone but, would it be prudent to apply BEFORE we get to HK?

Much as I trust DH, I like to check my facts

    Thanks in advance.

I was in HK for 3 months before applying (for me and two kids). Wife is a PR though so not sure if that has a difference on how the application is treated?

You'll be fine. If you apply from within HK it's slightly different in that you are applying for change of status from Visitor to Dependant but that isn't a problem.

By the way, DH means something entirely different in Hong Kong.

Indeed so!! I must admit for a moment I was a bit thrown by the original post. Very forthright helper!

Do a search on DH on this site and I won't be surprised if you (OP) will soon be looking for an alternate term of endearment for the fellow.
