Can I still renew my HKID?

    Thanks pls_help! I think that's what I am going to do, go with my HKID and my US passport. And don't worry, I will definitely renew my HKSAR passport while I am there. Just can't wait to go back!

    Do you have an HKSAR passport? You mentioned a BN(O) but obviously that's not the same thing.

    I do. But it's currently in HK and expired.. Only brought BNO with me to the states.

    You should just submit the HKSAR passport application at the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate. Forms can be downloaded at the HK Immigration Department website. It should take about 2 months max so there is enough time. Then you can use your HKSAR passport to enter HK as a permanent resident, even if they don't update your HKID card.
