    DH Visa Ukranian passport holder

I recently met a talented young lady who happens to be 23years old and holds a Ukranian passport.

I've looked at various options and possibilities of bringing her over here and the one that makes the most sense is a DH visa.

Is the process the same as any other country for hiring a DH from Ukraine? Has anyone heard of DHs coming over here from Ukraine before?

We have the room, the means and the justification for a DH visa. I'm just wondering about the application process as well as the chances of success.

Secondary Question : Is it difficult to change a DH visa to a regular employment visa later on if a bigger/better job is found?
Is it difficult to change a DH visa into a student visa if a suitable course is found?

Get your minds out of the gutter
    Serious tips and answers welcomed.....

I may be wrong, anyone correct me if so,
but as far as I know only people from SE Asian countries can get a DH visa.
Has to do with the law/discrimination that people from say Philippines on DH visa, won't get a PR after 7 years in HK.
People from Ukraine don't fall into that category so no DH visas.

we tried to bring our nanny from Holland to HK last year. But her being a mainland national wouldn't allow it on a DH visa then.

    again, I may be wrong.

You're 1.5 years too early for my one and 27 years too early for the talented young lady I'm asking for...

I'm pretty sure her issue was the Mainland connection rather than her Holland connections....

Commuting from SZ is essentially same as doing visa runs. At 14 days a pop, this will get noticed very quickly and wont work for anything longer than a couple of months.

This was in a a written reply from the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung, to a question in Legco in April this year.

Owing to immigration control and security considerations, the current entry arrangement for FDHs does not apply to Chinese residents of the Mainland, Macau Special Administrative Region and Taiwan, as well as nationals of Afghanistan, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Nepal and Vietnam. Save from the above, the Government has not imposed any restrictions on, nor will it promote the employment of FDHs of, any particular nationalities. Employers may, having regard to individual requirements, decide to hire FDHs from any countries and regions other than those specified above.
    So technically...

Seems like they exclude a few countries - not Ukraine.

You, of course, might have to explain why you need an FDH from Ukraine...

answer from my gluttonous side : I have a tremendous need for some Ukrainian cooking in my household. Perogies and meat on a stick are not easy to find in this town.

serious answer : she possesses multiple degrees in languages and happens to be fluent in 5 different languages.
2 of those languages are ones which I wish to have within my household so my kids can have more exposure to them.

I'm certain eventually she will either find a more rewarding work or go do some more academic stuff; hence my questions about changing the visa to something else. But for now, I would like to have her come and be part of our household.
