Want to apply for a Resident's visa but...

Here is my situation, I just recently got married and decided to get a HK resident visa (I'm here in HK already with my husband). One of the requirements says online is Rental receipt.

So here comes the trouble. My husband is not under rental contract currently, after his one-year contract was expired. My husband pay him in cash by month. We didn't mind to save him some tax whatever and it's convenient.

A few days ago, we started asking if he can produce any sorts of proof/rental receipt that we live here, if not, start a new contract. Yesterday he called us saying he cannot, asked us to move out in a month because he decided to sell his place, and it's better for us to get the receipt with a new apartment.

Did I just get myself in trouble by asking for a rental receipt? Now we have to find a new apartment in competition with all the new students coming to HK, and won't be able to apply for my visa for at least a month due to a lack of rent proof. What should I do?

    Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Legally you need a stamp duty. Where is this?

Have you submitted the application ?
In some case, you can submit the rental agreement + past 3 months utility bills, such as cable bills, CLP electric bills ... etc.

The biggest thing that IMMD looks for, I suspect, is the spouse's ability to support you. If it is a legit marriage, the rental receipt(s) can be explained to immd.

Like tafg said, hopefully you have utility bills / bank statements etc which show up at your address and serve as a record of you / your husband having lived there.
