    Help With the VEPIC/ROP145

Hi, I know there are many threads about the VEPIC process on this forum but I can't seem to find any about some specifics on the ROP145 form that I am confused about. A little bit of background knowledge:

I was born in '96 in Canada to a Canadian born mother and a Hong Kong born father (he was already a CDN citizen so no Chinese nationality for me). I have never truly resided in Hong Kong though my family does own a flat there, so I lost ROA in '97 and was downgraded to RTL. I have also never had any kind of HK ID card.

I will be visiting in May 2016 for a few weeks and wish to apply for my HK ID card, so I looked up all the steps and figured out that I need to do the VEPIC/ROP145 and apply while in HK. My two questions are:
    1. Do I also need to fill out a ROP1? (Form for a normal ID card application) Or will they issue me a card if they find me to be eligible?
    2. On the ROP145, under the Declaration of Applicant Aged 18 or Over, which box do I tick off? None of them apply to those with RTL even though there is an RTL box further up in the form.

    Thank you so much!

    1. I don't think it's necessary. And, double checking, Hairball's Guide to ROA makes no mention of ROP1.

    2. I'd think just box #3 (that you entered HK on a valid passport/travel doc) and nothing else. From what I understand, any honest mistakes in this part won't be held against you anyways, so don't worry about it too much. (I think most ppl actually check off that they're a chinese citizen w/o ROA born abroad only to get the letter that they're not a chinese citizen but have RTL.)

Those boxes are pretty confusing if you don't have a good grasp of the terms, I stated it wrong myself when I was doing mine back then. However for those I assist with now, I try to get them to declare things properly.

    For OP:

    1. If you've never had done VEPIC you should probably do VEPIC first, after it is approved, then do a ROP1 to apply for a HKID as a normal resident.

    2. I agree with IceEagle and just check off 3.
