    Going out for Exchange, Permanent

    Hello.
I am a university student at the moment,
and I would like to go on an exchange to make me a more well-rounded person.

I currently lived in Hong Kong for 5 consecutive years.

By the time I would have lived in Hong Kong for 6.5 years, I plan to go on an exchange.

My concern is whether this will "reset" the consecutive years of living in Hong Kong.

If I go on an exchange (for 4-5 months), will this reset "7 consecutive years"?

    Thank you.

If you stay enrolled in your local university and go through a program of your university _and_ your visa doesn't expire during your time away then no, it won't.
