Apply to where you got married to get a copy of the certificate? You need your marriage certificate for a lot of things. Worth getting a new one.

And if the reason is because you are not really married... then this might explain to you why its essential

If application is for a dependent visa for a spouse, the relationship has to be proven. ImmD will want a legal marriage certificate, and one that is between a man and a woman.

Why don't you have one? Why can't you get one?

If you dont have a marriage certificate then there is NO CHANCE of getting a dependent visa, even if you did have one the likely hood of getting a dependent visa for you is still very SLIM, other Indians like you who came on work visa, it was very tough and took a long time, some are still waiting.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am actually married but I have to travel to India back for just marriage certificate.
So, I need an alternate way of marriage certificate for dependent visa.

I have marriage card, marriage photographs and affidavit in which it is mentioned that we are married.

So, Is it possible to get dependent visa by affidavit and photographs ??

Isn't it the applicant's (not sponsor's) job to send a photocopy of the certificate in along with the form and recent photo? If so, what is the issue?

This is just not true. There is rarely an issue if the applicant is on a work visa. The problem lies when the applicant is a permanent resident of Hong Kong.

Remember Kani from the below thread, Poor guy on work visa trying to apply for Dependant visa for his wife and kid, took nearly 6 months for the bugger and the OP dude is on a 1 year work visa only. LOL ok I will say his chances are higher then but NOT without a marriage certificate.

They do worry about scam marriages. Who knows what was really going on with Kani. But a proper application with all the supporting documentation in order (including the marriage certificate) is rarely an issue.

Cant the Mrs or someone else apply for a certified copy from the local office where you got married?
