Unhappy Apply For Dependent VISA With 3 Months Salary Slips

    Hi Friends,

I am working in Hong Kong. I have work permit.

Now, I want to take my wife in Hong Kong on dependent visa.

My problem is that my bank account is opened in August only and I will apply for visa in September.
So I don't have bank statements of 3 months but I have 3 months payslips of company.

Is it enough to get the dependent visa of my wife ?
Should I apply it in September ?

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

Bring bank statements from your home country to show your savings at home perhaps.

Many expats come here and sponsor a spousal dependent visa as soon as they arrive, or even before they get here. ImmD just needs proof from you that you can support the dependent, and that proof can include bank statements from your home country. I think they expect to see about HK$200,000 in savings in your name (I don't think property necessarily counts as it's not liquid), which can be banked in Hong Kong or in home country.

(Geoexpaters, if I'm incorrect on the figure please post an amendment.)

    Thanks for your reply.

I can bring bank statements from home country but there is balance of around Rs. 1 Lakh only because I turned up all money to fixed deposits.

What should I do in this case ?

Perhaps an official statement from your employer stating your salary and benefits would help? Possibly combined with proof of your rental agreement.

From the govt website: "the sponsor is able to support the dependant's living at a standard well above the subsistence level and provide him/her with suitable accommodation in the HKSAR."

I applied for my husbands dependent visa at the same time as I applied for my own work visa (so zero bank account here etc). 100% of my "proof" was my contract of employment only. If your salary is sufficient (say, at least 20,000HKD per month) this should be fine. Stop worrying. if your salary is less than this... that's more of a problem and you should show your term deposits etc.
