    Hi Jared...yes i do have a valid Singapore EP..should i take a risk of going to HK without anything?..i did contact my flight airlines..thus rule hasn't implemented yet.
    They will not let you board if there is an issue so you might want to check with the airlines as well as the Chinese consulate in Singapore. Also try to check with Cathay Pacific in Singapore as they should be aware of the procedures.
    I just spoke with a colleague who holds an Indian passport and a US work visa. He claims that he does not have to go through this screening as he qualifies as an NRI. I should think that you fall in the same category.

    @shri
    Its was a total nightmare and could be worse elsewhere. The Indian authorities were very professional and following the local laws. I wont be using my SAR passport (unless absolutely necessary) in the future. I think the Indian Consul is far more professional than these PRC guys.

    I suspect this might be retaliation against the new visa policy..

    @Ipswalia The rule should not apply to you if you hold a valid Singapore IC and a EP. I was told that this only applies to Indian nationals based in India but I could be wrong.
    Why did the Chinese consulate not recognise you as a Chinese national?

    You lost your passport in Mumbai and went to the Chinese Consulate to get an emergency travel document and they rejected any help to you ???

    Did you try calling the HK imm hotline and asking for help.

    So with no travel documents they deported you to HK after 18 hrs detention. Holy Feck.

    I was asked to call the local Chinese Consulate and given a phone number. I was fortunate this happened in India as it could have been a lot worse elsewhere.
