Do I have to apply for extension of stay visa, when changing employer.?

Hi Friends

My current situation

• I have resigned from my current employer and my last day was 10/Feb/2017
• My visa expires on Oct/2017
• still i have not applied for any extension visa ( because i found that since my visa expires in 10/2017 , i can stay in HK)

Problem

• I have almost found a new job , most probably they will apply the pass this week
• I saw in another thread, you have to apply for an extension of visa when changing jobs, that means when the new application in process my old visa expires immediately ?
• I only get visit visa for 2 weeks for my Sri Lankan passport.so what happens if the pass takes longer time to approve , do i have to go back to my country and come back again ?

i am bit confused, please help me to understand the situation, thank you very much

See the other thread. You're not a domestic helper are you, as those rules are different.

If it's a regular employment visa, then the visa is good until the date stamped in your passport.
