Then i guess this could go either way.
hi, just give it a go come Jan-2019, there's no harm in trying. look at Peterwa and I also know many in the same boat as you, they also got their PR HKID with no issues. Main points are: you paid taxes in HK + did not exceed 6 months outside HK...I believe it'll work for you...just a few months to go..good luck.
I am having a similar situation as the author of the post.
Came to HK in August 2014 to do my Bachelors. Graduated in May 2018, now working here.
Summer 2019 the company might sent me for overseas work. I will still have contract with HK company and they will extent my visa until July 2021. I am not sure how often I will be coming to HK, but probably at least once in 6 months, so I will not leave HK for more than 6 months. Currently my accommodation is provided by the company, so I am not paying for residence since August. That accommodation is provided is stated in my working contract. I think the same will be stated when I have a new contract this summer.
So my question whether I am still able to get HKID in August 2021, considering my company is ready to provide me with visa, I am paying taxes in HK and having MPF.
If you have children it’s easier, if they are and remain in school in Hong Kong during these years you can prove you were ‘rooted’ here and therefore ‘ordinarily residing’ in Hong Kong. Living overseas and coming back to Hong Kong every once in a while will be tricky, no matter where you pay your taxes and mpf. But again I would recommend you contact the visa geeza, I am sure he can advise.
Thanks for answer. Hopefully they will not ask my pay receipts for accommodation. Otherwise I think I can show my contract that states that accommodation is provided.
But of course, my main concern whether working overseas will be still counted in 7 years period, whether my ordinary residence status is finished to not...
Just to clear for who is married to local HK (since my dependent visa has been canceled) and living outside of HK by local lawyer i got an confirmation that after been married with HK PR for 7 years you can apply for RTL as you have a right for it.
Basically if you have 7 years of visa stamps in your passport, and no single period > 6 months outside of HK, this is enough to get PR. They dont want to see anything else, no accommodation receipts, school enrolments, salary slips, employment contracts or any of this stuff. They simply will NOT ask you if you are working overseas and you will NOT tell them. So they are none the wiser and you will get PR quite straight forward.
hi, if i get it right, you just started to work/be employed in HK sine 2018, and from 2014 to 2018 you were just a student and not employed in HK? if yes, this means, you should start 7 years count from 2018, that means you can only apply for HK Permanent Residency in 2025, not in 2021.
and as Peterwa said, you should provide the following:
- copy of original passport & hkid
- copy of tax returns for 7 years, from your start of employment (2018) to 2025.
- copy of employment contract (from each company you worked for in HK w/in 7 yrs)
and make sure you were not outside HK for more than 6 months in single time/period, otherwise, you get back to zero, need another fresh 7yrs - so be very careful on this. hope this helps..cheers.
