Employment VISA Renewal

Hi All,
I am a software professional. I am on Employment VISA in HK. I have the contract with my Employer witll my retirement, as I am in the permanent role. My VISA will get expired on Sep 2018. My Employer will renew my VISA before that.

I wanted to do a minor endorsement in my passport, hence I have submitted my passport to the Counsulate. I am still waiting for getting back from the Counsulate. I have the receipt and my application is under process.

I have an fear that, if I do not get my passport due to any reason such as misplace etc (it should not be), what I need to do? For the VISA Renewal, I believe I need to submit the Original Passport.

I am felling very nervous. If I do not have my passport, I may loose my job. Please advise me.

You don't need to submit your passport to IMMD as far as I know. The renewal forms go in with the paper work and they let you know when the extension has been approved.

No clue why you'd be nervous about your passport and loosing your job. Does not go with the analytical mind required of a software engineer... just saying..

Dearl All,
Thank you all for your suggestions. Here is my plan:
1. I will do the follow up with the Consulate and try to get the passport by this weekend. I have the valid receipt. The receipt shows the documents will be delivered in 3 working days. but the status is still showing "In progress".
2. In case, if I cannit get my passport back, yes, I will get a new Passport from Consulate.

Yes, I need to think how I can stay in Hk without passport. Then comes job. I belive main purpose of Consulate is to help and especially provide passport.

Betting its the Indian consulate (BSI or whatever that agency is called?).. the "In progress" thing is something I went through.

I smell a wind up here ... Tuesday is the new Friday.
