HKSAR Passport + HVP

I’m applying for an HKSAR passport for my newborn baby. I’ve been told that in order to get a home visitor permit he needs a Chinese name but he doesn’t have a Chinese name on his birth certificate. Can I add a Chinese name to his permanent id card without adding it to his HKSAR passport(the immigration officer said the passport name must match his birth cert)?

I don’t think this will work because your baby is applying for permanent HKID and HKSAR passport at the same time. You need to amend your baby’s birth cert by adding a Chinese name. This (or other name changes) can be done on the birth cert before the first birthday.
