Leaving China with home permit to 3rd country - need passport?

    Just asking for somebody.....

    • It's a HK person now in China.
    • Stays in China with Home Permit right now
    • Also has a US passport
    • Wants to fly from China to the US, not via HK.

At check-in in China they want to see of course his US passport.
But how about at China immigration?

And what if - he is not supposed to have a 2nd passport, right? Will that be trouble?

Or can you use the auto-gates when you exit? In that case nobody would ask, right?

when exiting China immigration he/she only has to show HRP to exit and can have a US passport, wont bother China Immigration.

One more, can you register for the auto-doors if you haven't done that yet in Shenzhen?

Yeah, shows that you are lazy as shit.

At least your follow up question is a little more challenging.
If things have not changed, you can only register for e-channel in Shenzhen at certain border crossings.
What's more, if you don't fly out with Air China, then the other airlines can't forward the data to immigration and you can't use the e-channel to depart, even if you have registered and used e-channel before.
That describes the situation around two years ago.

No idea about that, but here is another issue I just heard:

Can't do because of name differences in HRP and name on ticket. Like some people have on their ID card Tom Wong plus their Chinese name, but the ticket is a simple Tom Wong, but the HRP is Chinese only. No problem at check-in or counter, but the e-channel can't do.

One more correct: person is not with HRP in China but with single entry visa on foreign passport. He plans to fly to HK and then go back to China with HRP. Just wonder since they already have his biometrical data.

"but the HRP is Chinese only. "

    That's not true.
You can have a HRP with a Chinese name and a completely different foreign name.
Of course, each individual's circumstances are different, but HRP contains either
Chinese name in Chinese and a romanisation of it
OR Chinese name in Chinese and a foreign name in addition to the Chinese name.

    王建华
    Shri Lanka

E-Channel can do if the foreign name was used for ticket.
