Question Am I legally allowed to do freelance work in Hong Kong while waiting for dependent visa to be approved?

my dependent visa will take 4-6 weeks to process. In the meanwhile, I've got some offers for freelance work. Am I legally allowed to take up freelance work? I plan to apply for sole proprietorship, which as stated on the official website requires me to prove the existence of my business before applying for it within 30 days. Does that mean I can start procuring business in the meanwhile or will have to wait for the visa approval?

I am completely new to this and would greatly appreciate any help!
    thank you.

No. You have to abide by the terms of your current visa. If this is a tourist visa, then you may not work, volunteer or study.

I would avoid being in an office setting, as there have been cases of jealous colleagues who made an anonymous call to immigration and then there's a raid. Since it's coming soon, just wait to be legit.
