    Well done.

I have my 'interview' on 27th. I didnt know it was possible to bring the date forward so much, did you call them or is there an online option?

    Cheers move it to tomorrow.

I can't move my appointment to get the ID card though, that will have to stay on 28th as all other days before that are full.

Now HKID replacement is going on, they're pretty busy. I tried but couldn't book an appointment for today,so will just try to see if I can get it done with the walk in quota.

If you have a morning appointment you should be okay.

Just an update. After changing my original interview date from March 7th to ' today',

I attended the interview where immigration officer only asked me if I were out of Hongkong for longer than 6 Months, and then in a minute I was given the confirmation letter that I am now a permanent resident of HKSAR.

I went right down to 8th floor for ID CARD issuing but they were out of walk in quota. I need to goto China tomorrow , so really needed to get my temporary ID TODAY; therefore they suggested I goto Kwuntong Immigration where they still had walk in quotas.

So I headed to Manulife Finance center Kwuntong ; and got the ID application done. Now temporary paper in hand and I can pickup the ID card next week.

Overall super efficient process, although I had to travel all the way to Kwun Tong for HKID. But I am happy to get it all done. Also it's good that ID NUMBER doesn't change. I was worried about updating new hkid with banks etc.

Just some more information concerning the topic.

My colleague did not come to HK in 2018, so he has been outside of HK for more than a year. He was still having a visa here and a working contract with HK office (at the same time he had another contract just to get visa in another country for his work), no housing though. He came to apply in March, stayed in HK for a month and immigration department was asking for more documents from him, like housing proof. He left after that and then immigration department sent him an interview invitation for 6 of May. He came, no questions asked, he got his PR.

Basically from my understanding and reading all the cases you can get the PR as long as:
    - you have back to back visas for 7 years
    - you pay taxes and MPF
    - you have a valid reason to be outside of HK for more than 6 month (work, health, study)

Yes, that's the case. HK law is very "personal" and lenient. They have their rules and bylaws but if you have legit reasoning and are not in oblivious violation of them, they usually let you slide. Intent is a big part of it and they see whether you are sincere or just want to play the rules and get the PR.

Not sure that MPF has anything to do with obtaining PR.

Yes it is proof of employment and continuous payments proves your ties to HK.

But it doesn't mean they will ask for your MPF Statements.

Have heard from a few people that they're increasingly asking for MPF statements for PR and Nationality applications.
