Was your friends wife dependent visa approved and issued???

With the recent issue of fake marriages with domestic helpers, your friend visa if she comes back will probably be rechecked to see if its a real marriage and will take a long time. If the initial visa was already issued they should have activated it immediately.

Visas are generally required to be activated within 3 months from issue date. If she has been away for 7 months and hasn't collected the visa after that long, it will be a new application.

A wife away for 7 months? That's going to look very fishy.
