Hmm, that sort of doesnt compute. usual visa cycle is 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 (years) and should reach the 7 years mark, how in the heck did he manged to get a visa that falls short of the 7 years mark by 7 months

Might be issue related to passport expiry/renewal.
Visa will normally be issued until the expiry of passport!!

So his visa was issued Dec 09, 2017. And he renew his passport March 2017. So now his visa is valid until Dec 02, 2020. So it's 3yrs validity for him. He's holding a US Passport . So I'm not so sure about that 1+2+2+2 ..
