    Student Visa

    Hi all,

A relative is studying in Hong Kong for the upcoming semester. They applied for a student visa months ago but their visa still hasn't arrived. They're currently in Hong Kong and were hoping that the visa would arrive before university starts, which is what the host university said would usually happen for most students, but that's looking more and more unlikely.

Can anyone advise what they should do in this situation? Is there anything we can do to follow-up on or expedite the visa process? No idea how or why it's taken this long. They've spent months preparing for this study abroad experience so it'd be a shame to have to cancel it and come back.

    Thanks in advance,

All visas are taking longer to process these days in light of the recent unrest, not much they can do but wait for a yes or no.

Is someone checking the postbox where the application was from?

Thanks for the reply. Yep, nothing so far. If the visa doesn't come in time, I've heard people go to Macau and come back to HK to extend their tourist visa?

They may get away doing that a few times, but again these days, more checks, more delays.

What passport are they traveling on?
