how does one apply for HK permanent residency for child born in UK?

    Be careful, if you decide to have the child in HK it might be unable to pass on the British nationality to your grand kids in certain circumstances.

    Ok I misread you, I thought you were born in HK. In this case your child born overseas won't get HK PR at birth. Most likely you are not a Chinese national, so you cannot pass on Chinese nationality & HK PR to your child. Your wife is Chinese national but not HK PR, so she can only pass on Chinese nationality but not HK PR.

    You can check with HK ImmD but they won't answer your query directly and will just show you the respective text of the rules. Have you read the info available on the HK ImmD website? Should read up yourself first.
