    British passport for HK-born baby

I am british born uk passport holder, wife is mainland-born HK passport holder

baby now has HK passport and ID card

Does anybody have recent experience with applying for UK passport. The amount of documentation they need is onerous, e.g. my wife does not have a birth cert, and her parents have no marriage cert or birth cert. We have originals of all the docs for me and my parents, advice from passport office seems to be that a letter explaining situation of mainland side will be ok

Has anyone been in same boat recently and have any advice? are there any companies that handle all the paperwork as it is a pain?

If you are british born, UK passport holder it should be pretty clear cut.

Just submit the passport form and I think birth certificate by mail.

I don't think there is a need for you to go through a company for this.

Just check out the FCO and UKPA website first.

I thought there is only one type of birth certificate in HK.

I think I just sent an official certified copy of the birth certificate.

That's for the UK. The kid was born in HK.

Ah sorry, thought you were referring to the kids birth certificate rather than the parents one.
