Activating a Visa During Quarantine / Border Closures

    Hello

I received my pass while in HK and now need to leave and re enter HK to have the pass activated.

However due to the Covid 19 situation only a few ports are open and travel restrictions are in place including 14 day quarantine.

Has anyone else been in this situation and found a solution. I wrote to the immigration department but have not had a response yet.

Is it possible to go to the immigration officer and have an exit stamp and then in turn an arrival stamp?

    Many thanks.

    Is Macau an option?

    Hello,

Currently the Macau travel advice says only open to HK residents and technically I would not be a resident yet.

    Thank you

Macau is your only hope and you will still need to self quarantine yourself so before you go, stock up on everything you will need for the 2 weeks then take a boat to macau and then come back to activate your visa.

I would probably go to the Immigration Tower and seek counsel from them given the circumstances we find ourselves in now.

In truth, it is a formality so perhaps they can offer you a solution. If so, please do share here.

I don't think jetfoil is running. Need to hop on the bus. And there is no quarantine from Macau.

I'm not sure hopping on a bus with a bunch of desperados hell bent to gamble is a good idea. Many of those taking the bus may also be from the Mainland. You are risking infection IMO.

You don't need to enter Macau. Go to the Macau bridge checkpoint and explain your situation to HK immigration officer on exit. He will escort you to HK re-entry controls. I've heard of several people who did that recently. They won't help tourist visa-runners though.

@James35 Please let me know if you tried the above method and whether it worked for you. Thank you!
