I was born in Hong Kong but I grew up in Canada. When I was born, I was given a Chinese name along with an English name (in English, it was three romanized Chinese words followed by a 'proper' English name). All my documents currently reflect this.
For the sake of convenience (tax, employment, health insurance purposes, etc...) I am planning to drop my Chinese name and simply go with my English name, only for my Canadian documents. Would this have negative implications when I return to Hong Kong, entering as a Canadian citizen? Would they be expecting me to have a Chinese name as well, considering I was born in Hong Kong?
My main worry is that all my Hong Kong documents (passport & ID) are years expired and I will need to renew them someday. Somehow I'm just worried that my 'reduced' name on my Canadian documents would turn into a hassle with respect to Hong Kong stuff.
