PR application: Continue waiting or do something?

Hi! I've applied for Hong Kong PR with the following timeline:

23 Jul - Submitted application online (applied 1 month before 7yrs complete on Aug 22)

1st week Aug - Received acknowledgement letter & letter asking to upload (1) ROP146, (2) passport scan within 2 weeks. Letters dated 27,28 Jul respectively

    5 Aug - Uploaded 3 things: (1) ROP 146, (2) Passport 1st+Last Pages scans, and (3) all HK-Visa sticker scans
(I read on some online forums that if your case is straightforward with no gaps in the 7 yrs, then better to not upload lots of documents because it may slow down the process because they are going through all the extra information provided)

19 Aug - Got nervous due to lack of response so decided to upload a lot of "proof" documents to support my case
    (1) University offer letter & graduation certificate
    (2) Tax returns & receipts for the 3 years I worked after graduating
    (3) Bank statement first page for 7 years showing my address

22 Aug - The day I completed 7 yrs in Hong Kong

As of today, 3 Sep, the online status has remained "In Progress" throughout all this time. My question is: should I visit immigration tower or email them or call them to see what's going on? I'd be happy to do that if it will cause them to process faster.

On the other hand, the acknowledgement letter I received did say "Please refrain from making enquiries to the officer in charge of your case about the progress of the application unless it is absolutely necessary, as it may delay the processing of the application". I have no idea why an enquiry would cause a delay, but this sentence is giving me second thoughts whether a visit/email/call is a good idea. What are your thoughts?

Just sit tight. Even straightforward cases last year were taking 2-3 months.

Whats the rush!! Nothing to worry about as long as you have last extension not expiring in near future and no plant to travel, 22-Aug wasnt too far, just wait couple of weeks and relax..

like what can you do, go to HK IMD and demand they approve you LOL

You enquire, they push your application to the back of the line. want to try??

relax, have a beer and wait.

You got nervous on Aug 19th and uploaded more documents than necessary, when you havent even been in HK for 7 years yet until Aug 22nd? The guy sitting in immigration tower who looks at your application maybe let you submit it a month early, but he is not going to look at it until Aug 22nd at the earliest.

Now you submitted all this other crap the guy doesnt want, he's gonna put it at the bottom of the pile and process the other ones first that are just a few mouse clicks for him. For yours he has to click the "download" button many more times, work out what the hell is all this crap you attached, try to find just the meaningful information that he needs, but overall will make you wait longer as punishment for making him do extra work. Maybe only when he's in a good mood he will look at it.

Hmm, what if my application is already at the back and enquiring makes him/her take it out and maybe hasten the process? (again, i've only read a couple of posts online which suggested that this is what happened for them, idk if thats standard procedure though)

(Obviously this very well could be nervous overthinking on my part)

They just started to look at your application on the day of the 7 years....there was no need to submit it 1 month before as they will not process it. So they are only at 10 days of process so no need to worry, it will come soon if you have no particular issue during your 7 years. My application end of last year took 4 weeks after the date of the 7 years.

Hmm, actually let me provide a couple of pieces of relevant information:

    - My current passport expires in Dec 2021, so my visa extension is only till Nov 2021 due to some rule in the visa extension process

    - I have applied for a passport renewal but that will change my "current/active" passport number when I collect the new passport. I am a bit worried that if I collect my new passport first before the PR in-person document check, they'll ask me to restart the PR process due to new passport number (i will still have my old passport to show them, but i guess my embassy will staple/tear/stamp it to indicate it's old/invalid)
