The BNO passport is accepted by the airline for checking in for the flight and issuing of the boarding pass. The joint boarding pass and travel document check at the entrance to the restricted area, however, is operated by the airport. The airport, being a subsidiary of an arm of the HKSAR government, does not recognize the BNO passport for any purpose.

    HKID Renewal

I have just renewed my HKID
I found the whole process super efficient, and very fast
And that was in Yuen Long, near where I live
Book the appointment online, show up and it's all over in 5 minutes
keep your old one until the new one is ready... you get a bit of paper to show when you collect
    it's not many days
I recommend you extend your stay if you can, until collection day, then head for the airport !
    Also FYI it's open from 8am to 10pm !

I just went through the renewal process today for my old HKID and they gave it back to me wth a form for collecting the new one in 9 days time. So theoretically you could leave the country using your old card, I suppose, and then mail it back for someone to collect the new one?
