In the context of an expat's situation, a move to Mainland China is a significant hardship unless you're on a proper expat package covering expat standard housing and international school fees. Otherwise its just not worth it.

All of this will be applicable only after they start letting non-essentials in... Far better 5-10 year options available.

Wow! This looks exciting! It sounds like something that was planned a long time ago, but still isn't implemented, possibly due to covid. Hope it gets implemented some day soon.

Nothing to get excited about going there and getting paid less than RMB 20k a month, which is higher than what locals there would make. As I said, unless its a proper expat package, its not worth it.

Not everyone is on some sort of expat package, some got their own business running in hk. The conviniency of having a 10 years residency in China is a plus when it's come to cross border mobility or settling for less than 6 months
