HK PR application - can you go on holiday during application?

Hello,

Sorry for such a silly question but I have applied for HK PR residency (fulfilling the 7 year requirement) and pending their approval. I see that the process is expected to take around 6 weeks and some forum members have had to wait 2 or months. There is also a comment stating that you must be in HK during your application.

Can I travel during the application period as I never expected the process to take longer than 6 weeks?.. I tried calling immigration for clarification but can never get through.

You don't need to be in HK during the processing. You need to be in HK when you apply...

if you've applied after 7 years mark, not 4 weeks in advance, you don't need to stay in HK.

This is not the us. They won’t take your passport away for 6 months
