To all you naysayers, it's not the first Utah Zoom wedding I've heard of for visa purposes. During covid, when couples were separated (aka us locked in), it was a way a non-resident future spouse could get a visa and thus enter. So now it's making the rounds I guess that you can get a Utah zoom wedding and thus get your partner sorted for a Hong Kong dependent visa. But please note, this post is NOT confirmation that I know it works or how it works!!!
That license or marriage cert from Utah in no way guarantees a dependants visa here in HK. It gets you to an application.
Well the couple I knew of were a real couple, probably now with kids. They were happy to be reunited. Can't remember if they had any issues with immigration or what they had to do. I actually knew someone who has been the officer making those decisions. I think it's not such a boring civil servant role after all.
They govt just wants a copy of it..the one Utah email you after the zoom call is fine. 5 friends str8 and gay have done this. Just be aware that depending on what your HK partner does, they gotta prove they can financially support you on a dependant visa. A few friends took longer because of this evening though the dependant was a pilot at the time...
They can work anywhere.. BUT as a sponsor you have to show income, proof of residence, savings etc to immd that you can support them without them needing a job.
They are your dependant.. they depend on you in the eyes of immd.
I am betting you have not thought this through...
