Are you sure? I don’t remember exactly what was written, but on the back of the temp ID, it said that temp ID is required for pick up.

Temporary ID is only required if you pick up by yourself. Your friend just needs to bring her own ID and the collection slip.

There are three items required for someone else to pick up my HKID card.
    1. Their ID
    2. Collection slip (ID678)
    3. Acknowledgement of application for an identity card (Temp ID)

You can always send birthday card/small notebook as a registered letter. And occasionally stick some cards inside.

then if they do a NFC scan and get some inductive response, the mail will be confiscated or locked up there for 3 months ?

Mail can be lost/stolen anyway, which is more likely than your imaginary "NFC scan". Having plastic/chip in a mail is not a crime. You can always pay 50SGD if you'd rather not follow advice that works.

At least you were able to get a new replacement.

I found out the hard way that temporary HK ID does not allow you to leave HK.... So had to give up my appointment to renew my HK ID. I was told it was not like this before in which you can use temporary HK ID to leave HK...

technically you use your passport to leave hk.. hkid leaving and entering hk is just a short cut.. you still can use your passport and you still have the resident counter where queue is short and allows you to pass thru...
