Mainland Bank Acct or Drivers License Using China Travel Permit

Hi guys, quick update as I went to the Driving Licence department in Loonghua and attempted to get a licence with MTP. Basically the supervisor said that I cannot get the licence via the HK exam-free conversion route because I am 'non Chinese'. They said I'd have to apply via the foreign licence conversion option. The Loonghua office doesnt deal with this type of application and there is only one office in SZ that handles foreigners applications.

Fortunately I did my body / eyesight test and the photos and these are valid for 6 months so won't have to go through the hassles. I have booked my appointment for foreign licence conversion in a couple of weeks time so let's see how that goes!

In short, as previously alluded to, at the time of writing, the MTP (Non Chinese) does NOT grant you the same right as regular HRP drivers.

You can register for an account and make reversation in Wechat mini program. The mini program is Shenzhen Online Traffic Police although I am not sure if it is available in English. The office you'd need to go to is Vehicle Management Station of Shenzhen Municipal Traffic Police per the above link.

So you had the response as my post previously. I am doing the foreign conversion next wednesday and need to prepare for the exam.

Can I ask if you had to do a seprate reservation for the conversation test? I have only made a booking for the foreign licence conversion.

How are you preparing for the test? Did you find any mock tests online?

Hi magpielaw, your reservation for foreign conversion should be correct. I’ll update you soon this week, if can’t you shouldn’t waste too much time on it. I had also already successfully balloted for the northbound scheme, so hopefully everything would go smoothly (20-30 sept application period). For exam, i read online that if you such on appstore, there should be exam prep if you just search “laowai” there are a couple of apps for it.

Anyone taken a flight with this? Like from HK to Mainland China. Would I be crazy to buy an Air China ticket with this, select "home return permit" (there was no option for "non chinese mainland travel permit"), and try to take a domestic flight?

Honestly I just want to leave my passport at home.
