How do you expect your consulate to confirm your citizenship without a passport?

Well this applies in general. Passports are not compulsory.

ive never been thumped but i dont think the consular can help you in this situation. the best they can do is to send you a list of lawyers

Sharing my experience at Hong Kong West Kowloon HSR today. I have held the MTP for a couple of months but hadn’t registered fingerprints.

I was able to register my fingerprints at the booth to the far left of the China immigration gates (pre-entry). I asked the officer how long it would take for me to be able to use the E channel and she said ‘10 minutes’. I was a bit sceptical, but proceeded to the E channel gates and to my surprise (after no more than five minutes) I was able to pass through without any issues.

I had lunch at Coco Park in SZ and came back via West Kowloon HSR about three hours later, and again passed through e channel with no issues.

I think people are just bored. That's why I went to Shenzhen (also Futian/Coco Park with HSR). Had a Peking Duck and Thai lunch/dinner. It's like a different country but also not, so... yea. Not eager to go very often.

do you go upstairs before or after going thru immigration?

I have been there recently to Coco park in a group of five, four adults over 50 and one teenager.
The bill was somewhat between 250-80 CNH ( I changed money in HK).
Same at a restaurant in one of the shopping malls at GangXia station.
    That’s approximately 37 Euros….
