It worked straight away for me. I literally walked out of the e-channel registration office and went straight to the exit gates via the e-channel and it worked.

Anyone registered fingerprints at Heung Yuen Wai control point?

The last few times I have been, i noticed there is a line for E-Channel registration. Is that where I should queue up or is the fingerprint registration somewhere after China immigration?

    Thanks

Did the fingerprint thing this morning via the Liantang Port, entered via the Manned Lane on the left side (not the Foreigners lane). Asked for my phone number and took all 12 finger prints (Did not ask for my passport).

After exiting customs, kept left and went up the escalator to the Departure Hall on the 3rd floor. At the top of the escalator the e-channel registration booth is on the left side.

At the e-channel both I was asked for my passport, which being a newish passport and me not having been across the border since 2006, the booth lady said I would be able to use the e-channels later in the afternoon, but said there maybe an issue with my fingerprints that were taken downstairs and I may have to use the Manned Lane once more next time I visit. The e-channel booth lady took just my thumb prints again (which are used for the e-channel).

So waited 5 minutes and tried my luck exiting via the e-channels and did not work just yet, so went to Manned Lane and only had 3 people queuing at the time.

So I will try the e-channels again later this week to see if it actually works or they need my prints again.

So I'm a member of Britcham and none of the people i know have got one - so perhaps I just know the 2% who didn't get around to it... or the statistic is totally bogus!
