Hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update. I received a call from CTS. An agent informed me that certain nationalities* are being subjected to extra scrutiny for their travel permits on the grounds of national security risk assessment, which they said may require additional visits to the Chinese office and CTS. I believe Mr. Lam was somewhat or mostly right about this part. The agent was not holding back and further continued that rejected applicants may have to enter china by applying for the usual tourist visa as their future travel permit applications would not be processed at all regardless of the number of reapplication attempts. Hopefully, that clears up certain answers.

@afy72, The mainland Chinese agent who informed me literally said that Chinese authorities were outright denying applications for MTP card on the basis of nationality. Expect delays or rejections. If delayed, then expect to make tons of round trips to CTS and relevant Chinese offices. Another Hong Kong born and raised Pakistani friend of mine, who has a respectable job and academic qualification applied for naturalisation and his application was denied within a week. The Russian dude I know who managed to enter Hong Kong after the resurrection of investment scheme recently had his naturalisation application approved within 1 month.

Nobody knows how long the delay can be. A few more people have received the calls for delays (mentioned in the main china permit thread), hence, no option but to wait.

My pickup day is tomorrow, Will update here if I receive the call as well.

On this dreaded call, do they just tell that card pickup date is delayed? or give any extra information? or allow us to ask anything?

Has anyone followed up with them via call? My pickup due date is next Monday. Keeping fingers crossed
