    Visit visa on arrival question

My mum, a nz passport holder is coming to visit hk for 40 days. She's got a return ticket.

During the visit we'll be going to Macau, mainland China a few times - this means crossing the border and back many times and having to get that little white paper each time

Will she be about to do this without immigration wondering wtf is going on?

I have had trips where I jumped off Hong Kong and stayed a few nights - in, out, in, out - each time getting a new little paper that said 90 days even when the previous one was "still valid". It's not unusual - I imagine they would be more concerned if she came and just stayed as long as she could. Do that a couple of times and there will be a problem.

Okay that makes perfect sense. Glad that's the case. And I'll be with her as well which must help. Thanks!

Hong Kong & China are encouraging tourists to visit.

Immigration staff are trained to query any suspicious individuals.

I think you’re fine unless you’re waddling around with iphones, gold, cash, animals, insects, drugs etc strapped to your body.

Many people (eg unmarried partners) live in HK for years on recurring visitor visas doing macau or SZ runs or weekend trips to Thailand or Taipei when needed. It definitely won't be a problem for someone with an NZ/Aus/European/North American passport to bounce in and out a few times.

Overzealous airline check in is sometimes a bit more picky so just have the travel itinerary handy for them.

Oh and I think the little white bit of paper mentioned by OP means the thing they give you in lieu of a stamp in the passport rather than the landing card.

Okay all of this is helpful information. And yes that's that I meant landing card! Glad to hear arrival cards have been canceled. Thanks all!
