Yes totally my bad. I kind of get the idea that she got her British citizenship through the BNO scheme that was applicable to ethnic minorities in 1997. She probably cant transfer that citizenship by descent and she does not want her child to get Indian citizenship of her father and hence she was trying to see if she could get the HKSAR passport which is much stronger than the Indian passport. That's what appears to be her case.

Non-Chinese HKers who got BNOs and who are not entitled to any other citizenship have long been able to register as full British Citizens (otherwise than by descent). So if that is the case her child would be British by descent.

The child would be entitled to Indian nationality through the father. I suspect she's unable to get British citizenship for the child and hence is trying to secure him with a HKSAR passport.

A minor can hold two passport until turning 18? What if never declare and keep holding it?
Your Indian passport and citizenship will expire on your 18th birthday unless you can show that you have renounced your other citizenship.
