Can you shorten the whole process by asking the man you are about to marry what his visa status is in HK and report back?!?

He can sponsor you on a C .. depends on his income etc. it might be some sort of conditional visa which includes an employment visa.

Or he is probably illegal and an international criminal and just lying to you.

Anyways at some point it is a discussion you need to have with him rather than internet random.

Children take PR status from their parents and lose it at age 18. If the child resides in Hong Kong for seven years and their parent makes an application to get them PR status in their own right they will retain it into adulthood.

Hello, as i’ve mentioned earlier, he’s under dependant visa from his parents. Last June he applied for a PR but got rejected due to inconsistency of living in HK (he studied in his country of origin). He also reneed his visa last year. And if permitted to stay in HK until 2027. The paper he sent me has somethimg like Notification Slip for Condition of Stay.

He said he will re-apply for PR this february, and hopefully will be granted. He’s no illegal immigrant, he has a stable job that he got because he has his own valid HK ID.

I was asking here because even him thought that he needs to be PR first because he can petition for me. And upon checking the internet, it is only showing information about permanent pr, but none for those who are under a dependant visa.

But yeah, thank you very much for the advice.

Hello, his mom was only got a PR status just this June. And idk what’s her visa status back then. All I know is that she got married to a PR, but she was working in HK even before she got married.

If he has a stable job as you and he claim.. he can sponsor you and bring you here as his dependent regardless of the type of visa.

A person on dependent visa cannot sponsor his dependent. He can only do so if he switches to an employment visa or after he attains PR.

A person on a child dependent visa can continue to renew the visa after he becomes an adult as long as the sponsor is still alive, but needs to make sure the visa is renewed on time as he won't be able to apply for a new visa. So technically he can still be on a child dependent visa in his 30s/40s.

Really? But someone in the thread commented that if he is under dependant visa, he cannot petition me as his dependant, as well. This is why I am quite confused. Do you happen to know a similar case like this?

He has a stable job, and has enough savings, though he is still living with his parents as of the moment. If we apply for a dependant visa, will we have problems regarding a housing? Since their unit is not named after him. Planning to live with his parents for quite few months until I can land a job. (only if I will be eligible to be his dependant)

Is that so? Cause some people in the thread that he can get me as his dependant. His HKID has a CO in it, and his visa is conditional of stay, permitted until 2027. Although it is his goal to get a PR status.

And the link you sent below, I dont think he is eligible for that since he is not chinese-blooded.
