    Post Non-permanent Resident

    Hello,

I want to know if there’s a similar case like this? My partner got rejected for PR due to his inconsistency to take HK as his residency. His parents are permanent residents and was able to secure him as a dependant before he got 18. He was studying in his country of origin that is why he was not able to fully reside in HK for 7 years. After studying, at the age of 22, he decided to move back to HK with his parents and landed a job there.

So is his visa still a dependant visa? And his status is resident but non-permanent? Could he still be able to get me a dependant visa once we got married so that we can finally be together? or does he need to complete the 7 years before applying for a PR before he could get me?

I hope someone can answer my question.

I think the dependent visa for offspring is only valid until they turn 18 but i could be wrong. Hes probably on a General Employment Visa in which case yes he would need to complete 7 years to get PR but you could always ask him.

Either way he doesnt need PR for you to get a dependent visa if you are married. If he has a sponsored work visa and you get married you will get the dependent visa anyway.

Hi, he mentioned that he’s still under dependant visa. And his work did not provide any employment visa, so I don’t think he’s under GEV. But if he still indeed under the dependant visa, does he need to be a PR first to get me as his dependant?

We’ll be getting married this year. And we are wondering if can close the distance this year or we still have to wait for him to be a PR.

Check his ID card codes.. he may not have PR but might have RTL status.

    A - Right of Abode
C - Conditional Stay (and then what Visa does he have?)
    R - Right to land

Any of these prefixes means he can sponsor a dependent as long as he can support them and has a place where both of them can live.

Hello, where do I check the letters you are pertaining to? In his HKID, it comes with letter M followed by random numbers, which of course I must not share here. I don’t see any other letters.

    Hi,

If there is a CO code under below his birthday, what does it mean? His visa is dependant visa.

C means conditional stay, O means they were born overseas

So if it’s a CO, he won’t be able to petition me as his dependant? And he has to reside in HK for 7 years, before obtaining a PR status?
