Code RO- Can i get a re entry visa for China?

Hi, i'd just thought i'd ask on behalf of a friend:
She has the code RO on her HK ID Card- Right to land i think it is (even though it doesnt say so on the back of her card) and is overseas born. She was wondering whether she can get her re entry visa for China- the 7/10 year one for $300+ dollars or is it just for Right of Abode card holders?

Would be grateful for any help!

    She cannot get that card
that is only for Chinese nationals..
if she holds a passport of another country then she is only having an ROA/RTL in HK but not a Chinese citizen

Maybe i didnt phrase that properly: Can a RTL Card holder obtain a multiple entry tourist visa for China? She has no stars on her card.

Well yes, but that's a completely different question from the one you asked in the original post! Anyone can, in principle, get a multiple entry visa to China.

For a RTL holder what I don't know is whether that would be a 6 month, 1 year or 3 year visa...

Ah, apologies! i didnt know the proper name for the visa!! As a PR, my hubby has the 10 yr visa; if my friend is entitled to one, then it would be MUCH cheaper than getting it from the Chinese embassy from the UK. Its just a matter of convenience. Does the 10 year option not apply to an RTL card holder?

No - he has the 10 year visa because he is a HK/Chinese citizen. The 10 year permits are not available to PRs (Permanent Residents) who are not HK/Chinese Citizens. For example, I have PR, but I can't get one of those 10 year permits. RTL holders are, by definition, not currently Chinese Citizens, so I can't see how they could get such a card.

An HKID holder with the Right to Land should be able to get the 6 month and 1 year visas no problem. As for the 3 year visa, I remember reading somewhere that you must have a Permanent Identity Card for that.

Aritauraus, is an HKID card holder with RTL not the same as a Permanent ID Card??! Or does Permanent ID Card only mean ROA? This is so VERY confusing...

No it isn't. A Permanent Identity Card will state that you have the right of abode in Hong Kong on the reverse side. Only Hong Kong residents with the Right of Abode in Hong Kong can hold a Permanent Identity Card.

Hong Kong residents with the Right to Land or Unconditional stay are not subject to any condition of stay but they cannot vote and also can be deported if they commit serious offences.
